From upload to display, it's as easy as "one, two, three"

RSGallery2 Introduction

This is a gallery from the old days (2005) when joomla! started. 
It had a wide reach in 2008 when it was recommended in several books. 
Actaully it has reliable basic functions and runs without hassle in joomla! 3x.
The use of RSGallery2 is free as in free beer. This applies to private and commercial use
The forum response comes within appropiate time and the sources are in github.

Security Fix (low): Resolved Path Traversal vulnerability in image operations.
Special thanks to Said Garazade for reporting

  • The operation rotate/flip could be applied on a different image when session id and form token is known.
  • Config parameters were not merged with menu parameters. So menu parameters were not active

  • Install does write the config.xml file parameter on install again

27.01.2026 State of development (J!5)

Every week I thought: Next week I'll start working on RSG2 again. Then the week would pass and again I'd think ...

I wasn't lazy, but I helped with another gallery component in Joomla Joomgallery.

Now i am back and will concentrate on two things . Make RSG2 ready for SEF mode and automate tests with Cypress.

Fixed

  • Slideshow did not show imagesSlidepage had wrong pagination links
  • Slidepage had wrong pagination links

Changes

  • Removed text on sidebar, so more space for the page itself as only icons are showing
  • The URL part 'gid=' has been replaced by 'id=' to comply with Joomla SEF rules

01.07.2025 State of development (J!5)

So, I maneuvered myself into a dead end.

  • I coded against the Joomla URL SEF structure, which resulted in faulty URLs in the pagination
  • Auto reformatted code to bad style. Found out way too late. Manual fix necessary
  • The to-do list was too big to see through

I needed a break and now I'm back and unraveling the threads. A new version is due in my opinion :-)
